The West River Regional Medical Center is expanding to provide patients with state of the art health care West River put up it s first walls in 1950 1982 marked the most recent expansion And now they are preparing for a 8 6 million dollar addition The 16-thousand square foot area will house the eye center operating rooms and clinic West River CEO Jim Long says the expasion is truly focused on the patients Jim Long West River CEO Improved access And confidentiality is the number two Earlier construction didn t worry about the insulation in walls and sound transferring in the areas and didn t worry about patients having to walk through confidential areas but all that is addressed in the new addition Long says the medical center serves about 20-thousand people in a 25-thousand square mile area throughout southwest North Dakota and northwest South Dakota Long says the new addition will be opened in phases The operating room will be first to open in August And the whole expansion will be completed by February 2010
